Dear members of the ADFAS family,
I have sad news to convey, our chair Heather McKendry died last night (6th August) in her home at Bolwarra. Heather had been unwell for some weeks and only just home from hospital with things seeming to improve. She is now free of all the problems that engulfed her and will be sadly missed.
Ian McKendry rang me this morning with the news and said their family will be all here later today. Hopefully, they can console each other but death coming on so suddenly and unexpectedly is difficult to deal with.
Her leadership and enthusiasm, sense of humor, love of the arts permeated through our committee meetings and our society. At times she was a little shy and softly spoken when it came to speaking at our Monday lectures but took to the camera with glee to get those photos of the party afterward for our website.
Heather was a well-liked and Popular GP, practicing under her maiden name of Dr. Heather Stevenson. I am sure her patients and the medical practice will be as devastated as we are.
Looking back she was a wonderful person to deal with and so positive. We will miss her company greatly.
Our condolences go to Ian McKendry and her family who will have a very difficult period ahead but hopefully, they will be able to reflect on the good times and put aside the troubles of recent weeks
May she rest in peace
