CHAIRMAN'S MUSINGS:
Please take time and enjoy navigating your way around our new look website.
It is very much a work in progress and will morph over the coming summer interval into a platform that will offer you and the committee some very useful interactive functions.
Members will be soon asked to login and register. You will all receive an email to instruct and assist with this process.
We are indebted to the past outstanding contribution of ADFAS Pokolbin members, Peter Rodowicz, and more recently John Emerson. It is as a result of their skilled endeavours, contribution and commitment that we have such a wonderful platform on which we can further develop. Our society is fortunate to have Ian Veroni, a current committee member, generously agree to take over as our Web Manager. Ian will further develop and manage our web capabilities.
Recently fifty members and friends of our society enjoyed a spectacular field trip to Sculpture on the Farm at “Fosterton” near Dungog. Thank you to all who joined us on this special day. It was superb. Philippa Graham, Chairman of the Sculpture on the Farm committee, with her husband John and fellow committee members created an outstanding event which ADFAS Pokolbin hopes to support and attend each year.
We have now enjoyed our last lecture in our 2018 series. Martin Ellis enlightened all present, on the life and legacy of the renowned English manufacturer Matthew Boulton.
Prior to our lecture the committee awarded Ryan Dixon, a student from Mt View High School with our ADFAS Pokolbin Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship for 2019. Ryan produced an excellent portfolio of drama and sculpture. He was presented with a cheque for $1,000. A well deserved Encouragement Award of $250, was presented to Lillian Taylor, a cellist also from Mt View High School. We were delighted to have Desley Pfeffer, the school Principal and Liz Adler, the head teacher of Teaching and Learning in attendance. Mt View High School is to be congratulated on its endeavours and student achievements within their Visual and Performing Arts Programme.
We are indebted to you our members, for your continuing generosity and support of our Young Arts Programme.
Membership for next year is due for payment. We are offering a complimentary gift card for all payments received on or before our AGM which is to be held on the 19th November at The Royal Oak Hotel Cessnock. Your Committee would be delighted for you to join with us. You may wish to use your Gift Card to introduce a friend to our wonderful society. We happily accept credit card, internet transfer, cheques and cash. Thank you to those of you who have already taken up this generous offer. We have had a wonderful response to date.
How lucky we are to live in this wonderful valley and enjoy all that it has to offer.
Warmest wishes to you all,
Heather Wilson
Chairman
